About
The main farm has been in the Botha family for 8 generations but was first granted in 1714 to Free Burghers Cloete and Radyn who originated from the town Stettin in former Prussia (now Szczecin in Poland), hence the name Stettyn. These early settlers were charged with planting trees for timber, grain and fruit trees to supply the travelers into the hinterland. The lovely old oak trees still stand proud before the Cape Dutch manor; and the old mill, with its massive millstone, is still in working order.
